The 2022 Tech Fellows are bringing their passion for social justice and diverse tech experience to the Philadelphia community.
The Code for Philly Tech Fellowship provides skill-building and professional networking to those who are underrepresented in the tech industry. During the 8-week, paid ($1,500) fellowship, each participant will work with mentors and technical leaders on either Software Development, DevOps, or Product/Project Management. Kate He - DevOps/QA
My name is Kate and I am a Software Developer with little under 2 years of experience working full-time in a technology-enabled wine company. I moved to Philly at the beginning of the pandemic and ever since then settled my life in Philly! My core belief has always been about empowering people, I’ve worked with and for low-income/special needs communities, and I realized how technology can be used to advocate and enrich our lives, and with the goal to make technology more accessible for all. In my free time, I like baking, hiking, cycling!
Elizabeth Johnstone- Software Engineer
Elizabeth has been working as a technical consultant for the past 7 months. Prior to transitioning into tech, she worked as a teacher and social science researcher. Passionate about promoting social and environmental justice, she has also volunteered and interned at various grass-roots and non-profit organizations. She is interested in the ways in which technology can be used to provide innovative solutions to injustices and inequalities. In her free time, she enjoys taking dance classes, attempting new recipes, and spending time with her cat, Mica.
